Basic guide to ID scanner installation and setup

WizzForms supports different types of scanners, such as scanners by E-Seek and Gemalto.

Drivers for our supported scanners can be found on our website.

Create a support ticket here if you don't see your scanner setup instructions listed.


E-Seek:

M200, M210, M250, M260 

1.  Plug scanner into an available USB port.

2.  Download the driver here.

3.  Right-click the downloaded file (CDM21228_Setup), and choose Run as administrator.

4.  Follow prompts to install the driver (no special configuration required).

5.  Restart WizzForms.

6.  Right-click the WizzForms tray icon, mouse over Reader/Scanner #1, and use the drop down menu to select your device (USB Serial Port w/ COM#).

M500

1. Plug scanner into an available USB port and plug the power adapter into a wall socket. 

2.  Download the driver here.

3.  Right-click the downloaded .zip file (M500-USB-driver.zip), and extract the contents.

4.  Navigate to the location of the extracted the contents, and run appropriate application based on your type of Windows (M500_USB_DRIVER-64 for 64bit Windows; or M500_USB_DRIVER-32 for 32bit Windows).

If you don't know your type of windows navigate to "Control Panel\System and Security\System" or right-click "This PC" and select "Properties."  Then look at your "System type."

4.  Follow prompts to install the driver (no special configuration required).

5.  Restart WizzForms.

6.  Right-click the WizzForms tray icon, mouse over Image Scanning, and select Page Reader Settings.

7.  Use the drop down box on the top of the settings window to select your device (Device serial number will be displayed).

8.  Click OK.

M280

1.  Plug the scanner into an available USB port.

2.  Download the scanner driver here, and the image driver here.  This scanner requires an extra step, so there is a specific guide available here if needed. 

3.  Right-click the downloaded .exe file (CDM21228_Setup), and choose Run as administrator.

4.  Follow prompts to install the driver (no special configuration required).

5.  Right-click the downloaded .zip file (M280v2_Driver), and extract the contents.

6.  Open Device Manager via the Hardware and Sound tab in Control Panel.  

If running Windows 10, Device Manager can be accessed by using the search feature or right-clicking the start button.

7.  In the Other Devices drop down: right-click on M280V2, select Update driver, and then Browse my computer for driver software.

6.  Navigate to the location of the extracted files, open the drivers folder, and select the appropriate OS folder.

7.  Restart WizzForms.

8.  Right-click the WizzForms tray icon, mouse over Reader/Scanner #1, and use the drop down menu to select your device (USB Serial Port w/ COM#).


Please note E-Seek devices, as well as, magnetic readers with USB cables are considered "Serial Devices"; and they need to be configured accordingly.  Only one scanning device can be used at a time.  If you are not sure which COM port device to select, simply refer to Device Manager via the Hardware and Sound tab in Control Panel.  Once in Device Manager, use the Ports (COM & LPT) drop down. 

If running Windows 10, Device Manager can be accessed by using the search feature or right-clicking the start button.


E-Seek devices will look similar to the following image (COM5 in this example):

Gemalto:

CR100, CR100M 

1.  Plug the scanner into an available USB port.

2.  Download the driver for your specific system type: 32bit system or 64bit system.

If you don't know your type of windows navigate to "Control Panel\System and Security\System" or right-click "This PC" and select "Properties."  Then look at your "System type."

3.  Right-click the downloaded .zip file (SwipeReaderDriversSetup64bit or 32bit), and extract the contents.

4.  Right-click the extracted file, and choose Run as administrator.

5.  Follow prompts to install the driver (no special configuration required).

6.  Restart WizzForms.

7.  Right-click the WizzForms tray icon, mouse over Reader/Scanner #1, and use the drop down menu to select your device (USB Serial Port w/ COM#).


AT9000 MK2, AT10K, CR5400, KR9000, QS1000

1.  Plug the scanner into an available USB port.

2.  Download the driver here.

3.  Right-click the downloaded file (DocumentReaderDriversSetup_1.26.19), and choose Run as administrator.

4.  Follow prompts to install the driver (no special configuration required).

5.  Restart WizzForms.

6.  Right-click the WizzForms tray icon, mouse over Image Scanning, and select Page Reader Settings.

7.  Use the drop down box on the top of the settings window to select your device (Device serial number will be displayed).

8.  Click OK.

Zebra:

DS8178

1.  Plug the scanner into an available USB port.

2.  Download the driver here, and download the configuration barcodes here.

3.  Right-click the downloaded .zip file (DS8178-driver), and extract the contents.
4. Open the appropriate folder for your system type (32bit or 64bit), right-click the install file, and choose

Run as administrator.

5.  On the configuration barcodes page, scan the top barcode if you will only be scanning government issued IDs.  The bottom barcode will allow for scanning of non-government IDs, such as student IDs.  Wait for the device to beep.

This configuration page may need to be printed out if the scanner cannot scan on the computer screen.

6.  Restart WizzForms.

7.  Right-click the WizzForms tray icon, mouse over Reader/Scanner #1, and use the drop down menu to select your device (USB Serial Port w/ COM#).


ID Tech:

MiniMag II

1.  Download the driver here.

2.  Plug in your scanner and allow Windows to install the basic drivers.

3.  Right-click and unzip the downloaded file (USBCDC_Driver_A).  The extracted folder will be named 80066803-004_USBCDC_Driver.

4.  Open Device Manager via the Hardware and Sound tab in Control Panel.  

If running Windows 10, Device Manager can be accessed by using the search feature or right-clicking the start button.

5.  Click on Ports, right-click USB Serial Device, and select Update driver.

6.  Select Browse my computer for driver software, choose the previously unzipped folder, then click OK.  

7.  Follow prompts to install the driver.

8.  Restart WizzForms.

9.  Right-click the WizzForms tray icon, mouse over Reader/Scanner #1, and use the drop down menu to select your device (USB Serial Port w/ COM#).
