Launching Fingerprint Enroll Window

The fingerprint enrollment window can appear manually or automatically after a scan.

Check your Kojak Fingerprint Reader settings to configure one or both launch methods:

Automatic Enrollment:
Scanners / Images > Fingerprint Settings > [ ✓ ] Enroll on Scan.

Window will automatically appear after a scan is completed.

Manual Enrollment:

Scanners / Images > Fingerprint Settings>  [ ✓ ] Show Fingerprint Enrollment Button.

Click the fingerprint button in the button bar to start the process.

The fingerprint enrollment window should appear with some basic instructions:

Disabling Missing Fingers

Before placing your fingers on the fingerprint scanner, you can disable any missing or unscannable fingers.

Simply Right-Click the finger you wish to disable and select the Disable option in the context menu.

Any disabled fingers will turn white to indicate they will be skipped in the enrollment process.

To enable a finger disabled by accident, simply Right-Click the desired finger again.

Select Enable in the context menu and the finger should be enabled and added back to the scanning queue.

Scanning Fingers

The Fingerprint Enrollment window will automatically guide you through the scanning process.

The finger currently being scanned will be highlighted on the left side of the window.

The highlight color will change depending on the status of the current finger scan.

Ready to enroll.  Enrollment in process.  Enrollment Successful.

As you are scanning each finger, ensure the base of the finger remains in contact with the metal plate at all times.

This will ensure the scan is consistent throughout the scanning process.

Note: It is recommended to clean the scanner and each finger with alcohol once per visitor for greater accuracy.

Left 4 / Right 4

  • Place all four fingers of the indicated hand on the sensor.
  • If any smudges or anomalies are detected, a rescan will be automatically triggered.
  • If your hand is too large to fit, turn them slightly so the pointer and pinky are even with one another:

Individual Fingers (rolled)

Once you have completed the 4-4-2 fingerprint capture, it's time to roll each finger individually.

The recommended process will be indicated on the screen in the Scan Preview pane:

 Finger Alignment:
  • Rolled fingerprints only use the bottom half of the sensor.
  • Use the preview pane to center your finger on the active area.
  • A vertical red line will appear when your finger is steady.
  • From here, slowly roll your finger from side to the other.
 Finger Out Of Range:
  • A red arrow may appear while capturing a rolled fingerprint.
  • If so, your finger has moved out of bounds on the sensor.
  • Use the preview pane to center your finger on the active area.
  • If needed, lift your finger and start again closer to the center.
  • Rolled fingerprints only use the bottom half of the sensor.

 Rolled Fingerprint Captured:
  • While rolling your finger, a preview will appear on the right.
  • A vertical green bar will appear during the rolling process.
  • This indicates the capture process has not been interrupted.
  • Once you have complete, slowly lift your finger from the sensor.
  • If any smudges or anomalies are detected, a rescan will be triggered.

Printing Fingerprint Card

After every fingerprint has been captured successfully, you will see this window.

This is your last chance to recapture an individual fingerprint without starting over.

You can tap the Continue button once you are ready to move on to the Print Preview.

* Fingerprints in the above preview were blurred for privacy reasons. Your preview should be clear enough to see the individual features of the fingerprint. Otherwise, you may want to clean your scanner / fingers and try again.

The FD-258 Print Preview will show an approximation of the printout using your captured fingerprints.

There are three options to choose from:

  • Print - Uses the Windows Print dialogue to print to your default printer.
Make sure your LexMark printer is configured correctly and set as the default before printing.
  • Save to File - Saves the current preview as a blank PDF file on your PC's local storage.
The blue FD-258 card background will not be present in the PDF - only the fingerprints.
  • Cancel - Closes the print preview.

Once you leave this menu, you will no longer have access to the fingerprints.

VeriScan does not save these fingerprints to your visitor's profile in either the local or online database. You must repeat the entire scan process to capture their fingerprints again after leaving this menu.
