What do I do if ParseLink asks me about my COM Port device?

Guide for choosing the right option in the ParseLink COM port popup based on your scanner type.

ParseLink will attempt to automatically connect your COM port scanner when detected. You might see a popup that looks like this.

I'm using an Image Reader

Enable the Don't ask me again checkbox and select the No button if you're using:

  • E-Seek M500
  • E-Seek M600
  • Thales AT10K
  • Thales AT9000
  • Thales CR5400
  • Thales CR2000
  • Thales QS2000
  • Regula 7017

These scanners do not use a serial connection.

If you see the popup anyway, it means ParseLink has detected another COM device on your system. If you don't recognize the COM port and you're using one of the scanners above, don't attempt to use this device.

Enable the Don't ask me again checkbox and select the No button.

I'm using a Serial Reader

If you're using one of these devices, you may want to select Yes when ParseLink shows you this popup:

  • E-Seek M250
  • E-Seek M260
  • E-Seek M280
  • Thales CR100
  • Unitech TS200

These scanners use a serial connection.

If you see the popup, clicking yes may connect your scanner automatically. This means you can start scanning even more quickly as your device will auto-configure itself to work with ParseLink.

I got a second popup

If you have another COM device on your PC besides your scanner, clicking Yes might connect the other device as a scanner. If you get a second popup, ParseLink has detected a second COM device on your system.

If this happens, we recommend going into the ParseLink right-click menu and checking the Reader/Scanner #1 and Reader/Scanner #2 menu items.

If you have more than one item available in the dropdown menu, try them one at a time to figure out which device is your scanner. When you find your scanner, disable any other COM devices from both Reader/Scanner #1 and Reader/Scanner #2.
