In ParseLink 2.5 we changed the name Page Reader Settings and moved some of the options around. Rest assured, every previous workflow is still possible and compatible with the new and improved Image Reader Settings menu.
Changing the Image Capture Settings
Scanner Settings
This dropdown menu will list all the available Image Readers connected to your PC by serial number. Selecting certain image readers may show some additional options relevant to your scanner.
Typically, you should only see one option here, but plugging additional compatible readers into your PC may show some additional options. Be sure to double check the serial number if you're not sure which scanner to select from this menu.
Selecting Which Data to Parse
This dropdown menu will list the prioritization options for IDs that might have more than one data type. Your needs may vary, so this chart can help you decide how to best process ID information.
Data Prioritization Options | When should I use this? |
Prioritize PDF417 over MRZ | I mainly scan driver's licenses and sometimes passports. |
Prioritize MRZ over PDF417 |
I mainly scan passports and sometimes driver's licenses. |
PDF417 Only | I only want to accept driver's licenses. |
MRZ Only | I only want to accept passports and passport cards. |
Images Only | I only want images, I don't need data-automation. |
Selecting Which Images to Save
If you only want to capture certain image types, you can use this menu to select which sides of the ID should be saved and which light types are more relevant to you.
The left column allows you to select which sides to keep. Use the checkboxes to select any combination of Front and Back images to be saved on each scan.
Deselecting the Front checkbox when you're using a one-sided scanner will prevent ParseLink from asking you to "Flip the document" and scan the other side.
Just make sure to scan barcode side down.
The right column allows you to select which light types to keep. Use the checkboxes to select any combination of Normal (a plain color photo), Infrared light, and Ultraviolet light images.
If you don't want to store any images automatically, you can deselect both the Front and Back checkboxes. This is useful if you only need data-automation.
Image Capture Options
This section of the menu allows you to change your image capture workflow.
Scale images to xx% allows you to automatically save images at a smaller size. You can select any size between 1% and 100% to shrink the image down to save space or comply with image attachment limits. Leaving the option unchecked will prevent image compression.
Save images for unrecognized documents will allow you to store images for documents ParseLink isn't able to identify. Dirty or damaged IDs may be difficult to read, so ParseLink will store them as "Unrecognized" instead of the template file name.
Show save image dialogue will prompt you with a popup window after images are captured. Instead of saving the images automatically, you can manually select which images are saved in this popup menu in an image carousel, rather than saving every image every time
Additional Images
This section let's you control multi-capture settings in ParseLink. If you need to capture additional images tied to the same ID (say, a credit card for chargeback protection) you can control it here.
Prompt two-sided scans on flatbed scanners will display a popup after you scan the first side of an ID on a single-sided scanner allowing you to capture both sides. This setting will be automatically enabled if you are using the Authentication Engine with a flatbed scanner. No change is required using a two sided scanner such as the CR5400 or M500.
Show a dialogue to add additional images will show another popup, this time asking you if you'd like to scan more than just the front and back of an ID. If you'd also like to capture a picture of a player card, credit card, or other similarly sized document: you can enable this setting. The images will be stored with the same template filename of the most recent previous scan.
No prompt for MRZ documents will suppress the option to scan both sides for passports and other documents using MRZ to encode data. We recommend enabling this option if you exclusively accept passports but not passport cards.
