How does scanning work with Send to XML configured in the Teller menu?

Quick summary of the scanning workflow when saving ID images and data to an XML file in the Teller menu.

Configure ParseLink

Before you continue, make sure you reference the Teller XML Setup article.

This will ensure that the File Room, Cabinet, Institution, and other crucial components of the XML are configured correctly.

Scan an ID

Insert an ID into your scanner to get started.

If configured per the guide referenced above, no profile should run. Instead, you'll see the Manual Entry window appear before the XML is created.

Enter the account number and tax ID for the visitor. These are required before the XML file can be created. They ensure the ID images and authentication report are attached to the correct visitor account in your Teller software.

Once you click Save, the XML files, ID images, and Authentication report should save to the specified location.

Saved Images

The filenames of the scanned images will be consecutive numbers. Each additional scan will add 1 to the running total so that old attachments aren't accidentally referenced by old XML files.

Each attachment is also stored with the date and time stamp encoded in the filename.

Each attachment will be referenced inside the XML file with its own attachment reference number.

In this example:

  • The front ID image is appended with a 0
  • The back ID image is appended with a 1
  • The Authentication report is appended with a 2
