VeriScan offers two options for flagging age: minimum age and restricted age
To manage your visitors and ensure they are at least a particular age (typically 21), simply use Minimum Age Limit. Any visitor scanned that is below the Minimum Age Limit will result in an Underage alert and cause the scan result to show FAILED.
However, if you are using VeriScan to manage guests of multiple ages, you can also use Restricted Age Limit. Any visitor scanned that is at least as old as the Restricted Age Limit, but is younger than the Minimum Age Limit will result in the scan result of FLAGGED.
You can manage these and other alerts in the VeriScan Cloud portal in Settings > Local Settings > Alerts tab.
Why is this useful?
Music venues, clubs, and bars sometimes have two age restrictions:
- 18 years or older to enter the building
- 21 years or older to purchase a drink
If you need to set age restrictions for multiple tiers of ages like listed above, set your minimum age to 18 so that anyone 17 or younger will have a "Failed" status with an underage alert.
Set your restricted age to 21 so that anyone between the ages of 18 and 21 will have a status of "Flagged" and anyone 21 or older has a status of "Passed" (assuming all other checks pass as well).
Other useful scenarios where this might be useful may include:
- Escape rooms / horror experiences where people under a certain age need a parent or guardian
- Casinos or other age restricted businesses that allow 18 years olds to visit restaurants but not gamble
- Adult entertainment where you must be 18 to enter the building but 21 to access the bar
