How can I get notified via email or SMS when an ID fails authentication?

Set up email and/or SMS alerts for failed IDs

Overview

VeriScan can send instant email or SMS notifications the moment an ID fails authentication or barcode security check. This allows your security team and managers to catch and respond to potential fraud immediately.

Compatible with VeriScan Premium and higher subscription plans.

How to Set It Up

Before you can receive alerts, you need to make sure your portal user is set up correctly.

User Settings

  1. Sign into the VeriScan Cloud portal.
  2. Navigate to Access Management > Users.
  3. Select Edit next to the user you want to receive notifications.
  4. Verify your Email Address (for email alerts) is correct and/or a Phone Number (for SMS alerts) is entered.
  5. Click Save settings.

Only account admins are able to add/edit users. If you want to receive notifications, contact your account administrator.

Enabling the Alert

  1. Navigate to Settings > Local Settings > Alerts.
  2. In the Alerts tab, select the More settings option to the right of the Authentication Failed or Barcode Security Check Failed alert.
  3. Select the username(s) you want to receive notifications from the dropdown.
  4. Check the box underneath the delivery method to receive the specified alert.
  5. Select Save Changes.

Receiving the Alerts

After completing the setup, you should start receiving alerts when scanned IDs fail authentication or barcode security check. The wording of your alerts depends on whether or not your account is using full authentication or our standard barcode security checks.
