What kind of alerts are available in VeriScan and what do they mean?

VeriScan for Windows alert types and definitions.

VeriScan for Windows has a series of alerts that are available depending on certain ID conditions. Most of the alerts are turned on via the VeriScan Cloud admin portal and cannot be turned off within the app, but additional settings for sounds and pop-ups can be toggled from the app (Settings > Groups and Alerts > Alerts). From alert list to underage, here is the complete list of alerts and what they mean.

Configurable Alerts

Group

The assigned group alert can appear when the person scanned is assigned to one of your Groups. Groups are helpful for quickly identifying repeat customer or visitors.

Authentication Failed

The Authentication Failed alert is for users who are on the ID Authentication plan. This alert will appear when the scanned ID has failed at least one of our authentication checks.

Barcode Security Check

The Barcode Security Check alert will appear when the scanned ID's barcode or MRZ data does not match the format expected from that series of ID. If an ID receives this alert, it is recommended to perform additional checks on the ID such as ID authentication or third party checks.

Expired ID

This alert will appear when the scanned ID document is expired. An ID is considered expired at midnight the following day.

Underage ID

The underage ID alert is shown when the scanned ID's age does not match the age you've set as OK in the VeriScan Cloud portal.

Birthday

The birthday alert will appear if the person's ID is scanned on their birthday.

Alert List

The alert list alert will appear when the scanned ID matches someone on your alert list.

Address Validation

The address validation alert can appear if the address on the scanned ID either matches an entry in the list of address alerts or if the address does not match an entry found on the list.

Multi-Scan

The multi-scan alert can alert you when an ID has been scanned more than once within a given timeframe. This setting is configured via the VeriScan Cloud admin portal.

Visit Frequency

The visit frequency alert is triggered when an ID has been scanned X amount of times within X amount of days. This setting is configured via the VeriScan Cloud admin portal.

Gold Zip Code

The gold zip code alert will trigger if the scanned ID's address is located in the top 100 zip codes by income. Contact support@idscan.net to get this feature enabled for your account.

Foreign ID

The foreign ID alert is triggered when the scanned ID is not issued by the US and is not a passport. This alert can be toggled on via the VeriScan Cloud admin portal.

System Alerts

Unrecognized ID - auto-upload enabled

The unrecognized ID alert can appear when the scanned ID is not recognized by the VeriScan app. If you're actively troubleshooting the issue with the IDScan.net support team, they may ask you to copy the unique identifier.

This alert specifically is when your account is set to auto-upload all unrecognized IDs.

Unrecognized ID - prompt for upload

This alert can appear if your account is set to prompt you for upload upon unrecognized IDs.

Unrecognized ID - no upload

If your account is set to not upload any unrecognized IDs, this alert will appear.

The Unsupported ID may appear if the scanned ID is not supported by the IDScan.net authentication engine. This alert is only available when on the ID Authentication plan.

View-only Mode

You may receive the View only mode alert if the device you're scanning with was set to view only. This means that you will be unable to make any changes or perform any actions related to the scan.

Offline

The Offline Scan alert may appear if the scan was performed while the device was disconnected from the internet. This will cause the scan result to show as FLAGGED even if the ID passes the available checks.

Check your internet connection - allowed time exceeded

This alert will appear once your allowed time for offline scanning has exceeded. It's required that you reconnect to the internet in this state.

Check your internet connection - account not configured for offline scanning

This alert can appear when your device has been disconnected from the internet and your account is not set up to scan offline. This is a setting that can be adjusted in the VeriScan Cloud admin portal.
